New Zealand wins bid to host 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup
New Zealand will host the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup alongside Australia - with the opening game set to be played at Auckland's Eden Park. The joint bid was deemed the favourite leading up to the vote and came out on top, despite the Guardian reporting a last minute push towards Columbia from UEFA. The news was announced by FIFA at 4 this morning - with the Aussie Kiwi bid securing 22 of the 35 votes on offer. We spoke to Louise Ternouth on what this means for New Zealand and women's sport.
