Epidemiologist on threats to moving to Level 1 in Auckland
Cabinet will meet today to decide whether there's enough evidence to conclude that the Auckland Covid outbreak has been contained and the city can return to normality. It has agreed, in principle, for Auckland to join the rest of the country at Alert Level 1 at midnight on Wednesday. But some experts are worried that it's a risky move because we can't be sure whether or not the virus has been eliminated from the community, so they're calling for a "Level 1.5" for Auckland. University of Otago epidemiologist Professor Michael Baker spoke to our producer Matthew Theunissen about the risks a move to level 1 would pose.
