Congestion charges could be on the way for AK CBD
Would you pay $3.50 to drive through Auckland's central city at rush hour? That's what's being considered to handle our largest city's traffic problems. The report, completed by a joint Government and Auckland City group called 'The Congestion Question', set out to see if congestion pricing could work in Auckland on weekdays. It suggests an off peak toll of 1-dollar-50. Similar charges have already been introduced in other cities like London, Singapore and Stockholm. Auckland mayor Phil Goff has given the proposal his "qualified support".
