The Winners and Losers of Budget 2021
Grant Robertson presented the government's Recovery and Wellbeing Budget yesterday but some are describing it as anything but. Perhaps the biggest headline is the 3 billion dollar boost for beneficiaries, but there was also more money for Pharmac, District Health Boards and to fund health and education reforms. There's a billion-dollar package for Maori, including money to set up the promised Maori Health Authority and to provide a thousand homes. Our Hawke's Bay reporter Tom Kitchin hit the streets of Maraenui in Napier to ask what people make of benefits going up. Our reporter Hugo Cameron gauged reaction in Christchurch. Meanwhile, our reporter Ella Stewart had a look at a couple of the other big winners and losers in this years budget.
