The world of mixed martial arts is in mourning after Liufau Vake, known as Fau Vake, died yesterday after an alleged assault a week earlier. The 25 year old was left in a coma after the incident on Symonds St in central Auckland in the early hours of Sunday the 16th. Four people have already appeared in court in relation to the incident and, following Vake's death yesterday, police said that further charges will be filed. Vake was one of UFC champion Israel Adesanya's main sparring partners at City Kickboxing in Auckland. Combat sports commentator Mike Angove, who is a coach at the gym and is acting as a spokesperson for Vake's family, joined Nathan Rarere.
