From First Up, 5:36 am on 6 July 2021

The morgue in Fiji's capital city Suva is reported to be filled to capacity, and the funeral service which runs it says they're bracing for more Covid-19 deaths.

The country reported 352 new positive cases and three deaths Yesterday, bringing the nation's total cases to nearly 6500, and deaths to 33 since the April outbreak began.

Fiji's Ministry of Health issued a statement yesterday urging people whose loved ones have died to make funeral arrangements and collect their bodies because the morgue is full.

Our producer Matthew Theunissen spoke with Diven Prasad from Suva Morgue Services Limited, which operates the morgue in the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva.
