Trialling vaccine passport - working well, released today
As of this morning, the 3.4 million New Zealanders who've been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 will be able to apply for a vaccine pass. The long-awaited pass will soon be required to enter large events, hospitality and retail outlets, and faith-based gatherings. Covid-19 response Minister Chris Hipkins announced less than an hour ago that from this morning, people can log into the My Covid Record site to apply for the pass or call 0800 222 478. The My Vaccine Pass has a QR code that can be scanned upon arrival at a venue. The pass can be downloaded to your phone and stored in your Apple or Google Wallet, or may be printed out. Someone who's already had an opportunity to examine the vaccine pass is Andrew Chen, who's a research fellow with Koi Tu - the Centre for Informed Futures - based at the University of Auckland.
