Willis:National says govt overspending not helping inflation

The cost of living is on everyone's lips at the moment with inflation up to 6.9 per cent -- a 30-year high. The government's been under fire from its political opponents, who've accused it of spending too freely from the public purse. The government, meanwhile, is pointing to global pressures brought by Covid and the Ukraine war, which have seen economies around the world reporting similar numbers. Nathan Rarere spoke with National's deputy leader, Nicola Willis, and began by asking her about an interview that her leader Christopher Luxon did on TVNZ's Q + A programme on Sunday. Some commentators have accused him of failing to back up his accusastions of government over-spending.
