New independent "Teal" MP on influencing Australian govt
Perhaps the biggest story of last month's Australian elections wasn't the rise of Anthony Albanese's Labour or the decline of Scott Morrison's Liberal-National coalition, it was the dramatic ascent of the so-called Teal Independents. These new MPs managed to beat Liberal Party MPs in seats they'd traditionally considered safe, promising greater action on climate and integrity in government. One of them is Zoe Daniel, who Nathan Rarere spoke to before the election, Ms Daniel she romped to victory in the Melbourne electorate of Goldstein. He asked what influence she as an independent MP could have when it comes to the direction of government.
