Tragic crash near Picton kills 7 including baby
Police say the blink of an eye was all the time it took for seven people to lose their lives when a van and refrigerated goods truck collided near Picton yesterday morning. A baby was among those who died in the crash on State Highway 1 near Mount Pleasant, which has left the emergency services personel who attended traumatised. Inspector Paul Borrell from Tasman Police says it appears the north-bound van had crossed the centre line. Two other people who were in the van survived but were badlly injured, while the truck driver escaped with minor injuries.
