The end of the era of the District Health Board

From First Up, 5:49 am on 27 June 2022

On Friday, District Health Boards will disappear and Health NZ and the Maori Health Authority take over. To get to this point, some areas have taken part in a pilot scheme to figure out how it will all work. This includes Wairoa in Hawke's Bay, Wairoa's population is around 70 per cent Maori and is hoping to greatly benefit from the new reforms. Our reporter Tom Kitchin spoke with Lewis Ratapu from the new Tihei Takitimu Partnership Board, which was established to help guide the Maori Health Authority across Te Matau a Maui / Hawke's Bay.
