Northland towns cut off due to rain from "atmospheric river"

Entire Northland towns remain entirely cut off due to the rain that's been pelting down for the past 48 hours or so. Schools were closed yesterday to allow children to get home before being blocked by flooding, while some Northlanders found themselves trapped by the rising water. Northland now appears to be the epicentre of the so-called "atmospheric river" that had forced hundreds of homes to be evacuated in the northern South Island. Matthew Theunissen reports.
