Robertson:govt threatens regulation to supermarkets
The government says New Zealand's supermarket duopoly has a year to start cooperating with their rivals or it will force them to. It was announced yesterday that Foodstuffs and Woolworths basicially have a year to open up wholesale supply to smaller grocery operators before they're forced to by the grocery comissioner. Nathan Rarere discussed this with the Finance and Deputy Prime Minister Grant Robertson. He started by asking, why wait a year before the government steps in? Can't you just do that now?
