Volunteers at Repair Cafes fix your broken stuff for koha

From First Up, 5:44 am on 15 November 2022

In a world full of fast fashion, cheap appliances and quick-to-outdate electronics, a group of repairers are urging people to think twice before hiffing things in the bin. Repair cafés are an international phenomenon which began in the Netherlands in 2009, and first came to New Zealand in 2016, with the current edition ramping up since the start of the pandemic. Charging nothing - but with a koha encouraged - the volunteer repairers do their best to fix all sorts, saving people both money, and a trip to the dump. Reporter Leonard Powell went along to get his favourite fleece sewn up, and to chat with those involved.
