AK Floods: Grey Lynn renters wade naked to save possessions

Auckland has had almost eight times its normal January rainfall this month, with more rainovernight and Metservice issuing a heavy rain warning for the region for the next 24 hours. A low lying area in the central Auckland suburb of Grey Lynn is in tatters following last Friday nights flooding. Reporter Leonard Powell spoke to renter David Playle who described swimming around naked as floodwaters rose rapidly forcing him to stuff anything he could save into the flat's ceiling cavity.
