And staying with schools, some Auckland Schools will re-open today after the Ministry of Education made a U-turn on their direction to close schools for the week. The Ministry put a Power of Direction in place on Monday stating "all schools in Tamaki Makaurau must remain closed until February 7." However, they back tracked on it yesterday, saying educational institutions can choose to re-open from today. Schools that choose to remain closed will not be required to make up the two additional days by the end of the year.
