AK Council was lacking in response to January floods
Aucklanders did not get the information, leadership or support they had a right to expect during a major crisis. That's one of the conclusions of a report by former police commissioner Mike Bush into Auckland Council's handling of the anniversary weekend floods on the 27th of January. Four people lost their lives and hundreds lost their homes after a record amount of rain fell across the region. . The review, which was commissioned by Mayor Wayne Brown, followed sharp criticism of him and his council for their handling of the crisis. Mahvash Ikram asked victims of the floods what they thought about its conclusions.
