Budget: families finding it tough to visit supermarket
Prime Minister Chris Hipkins says today's budget will put bread and butter issues on the table. But for many New Zealanders the food on that table is looking pretty grim these days. We had a chat with two wahine about their struggle to make ends meet West Auckland woman Elesha Thomas is a single mum with six kids - aged between 4 and 14. Whangarei woman Kim Odneck is a single woman in her 50s. She earns just enough to pay for power, phone and rent leaving 30 to 70 dollars a week for groceries.
