Long time red seats flip blue, we head to Mt Roskill, Tamaki
Electorates across the motu have slipped from Labour, after an overwhelming majority ticked anything but red at the polls. Auckland's Mt Roskill is - arguably - the most shocking flip where Labour's Michael Wood lost to National candidate Carlos Cheung. While most voters in the country swung National's way, those in the Tamaki electorate had a change of heart after more than six decades of choosing blue. ACT deputy Broke van Velden won the seat with a 4,500 vote margin First Up reporter Leonard Powell took a trip to both the electorates.
