The demand for energy in New Zealand is relentlessly going up, but so too is the pressure to provide it in an environmentally friendly way, that doesn't cost too much.

Advocates say New Zealand's geothermal resources meet those objectives and could have been doing so for years, if opportunities had not been wasted.
