Under the deal tariffs are likely to be cut on a number of key New Zealand exports to China, saving exporters hundreds of millions of dollars.
But critics fear the deal will also encourage more manufacturers to relocate to China and question the decision to sign the agreement when China is cracking down on protests in Tibet.
