Formative musical experience: I went to an Evens gig when I was fourteen, not really knowing anything about them. I remember following my snotty, teenage, Nirvana and Megadeth shirt wearing friends up to Ian Mackaye to ask for a free CD. His response was something like "Only if you burn it for all of your friends!". I don't know if that was really a formative musical experience, but it's pretty funny and was probably one of the first times I saw music as something that seemed important to people on a smaller scale, rather than only at Edgefest and Muse and whatever other awful things I was going to then.
Musical guilty pleasures: First thing that comes to mind is Bright Eyes and Aimee Mann, plainly because me and Abi were talking last night about how we don't want to turn into them!
