10:20 Andy Foster: the state of Wellington's water
A taskforce has been created to look into Wellington's water problems. Mayor Andy Foster says it will include councillors, mana whenua and some individuals independent from the council. Lately has talked to Owhiro Bay resident, Eugene Doyle, and Wellington Councillor Fleur Fitzsimons, who have been damning about Wellington Water's lack of performance. The Mayor, councillors and Wellington Water met yesterday to thrash it out and the outcome is a mayoral taskforce. Mayor Andy Foster joins Karyn to look at why a taskforce is needed.
10:30 New Zealander of the Year - Jennifer Ward-Lealand Te Atamira
The New Zealander of the Year Award winner has just been announced at a star-studded event in Auckland. The top category's finalists were Peter Beck founder of aerospace manufacturer Rocket Lab. Veteran screen and threatre actor, Jennifer Ward-Lealand Te Atamira and Professor Jane Harding, best known for her work with babies who develop low blood sugar. The 2019 New Zealander of the Year, Mike King has presented the award to Jennifer Ward-Lealand Te Atamira. An elated Jennifer joins Karyn live.
