10:20 New Zealand Olympians rack up more Tokyo medals

It's a big day for New Zealand Olympians in Tokyo today from Lisa Carrington's latest gold medal in the canoeing to Ellesse Andrew's silver in the keirin cycling event. Karyn Hay crosses to RNZ's Maja Burry for the latest and what's coming up in these final days of the Olympics.

10:30 Covid-19's Delta variant is spreading rapidly

Australia's state of Victoria heads into a snap seven day lock down at 10pm NZ time tonight as Sydney records its latest daily high of 262 new cases and in Tokyo more than 5,000 new cases have been reported today. Karyn catches up with epidemiologist, Professor Michael Baker to talk about the Delta variant and New Zealand's rollout of the pfizer vaccine.

10:45 The Rest is History: Surfing in New Zealand

Surfing is one of six sports that made their debut at the Olympics this year, along with softball, baseball, sport climbing, skateboarding and karate as the Games looked to capture a new youth market. Professor Belinda Wheaton from Waikato University has co-written a book called Action Sports and the Olympic Games and she joins Karyn to talk about the history of surfing.
