10:20 Rachel MacGregor: "I wanted to be free"

Rachel MacGregor has been awarded $400,000 in damages after she was defamed by her former employer, one-time Conservative Party leader Colin Craig. The judgement comes after protracted legal challenges over the fallout from the 2014 election campaign, when MacGregor suddenly resigned just days before voters went to the polls. Rachel speaks about the toll it has taken on her mental and physical health, family and work, and how she feels after today's announcement.

Guyon Espiner's documentary Proof on New Zealand's drinking culture has struck a chord with RNZ listeners. Lately has received a copious amount of feedback from people who have experienced some surprising aspects of giving up alcohol. Anna gave up drinking two and a half years ago and since then she has noticed that there are almost "magical powers" attributed to alcohol in advertising.
