10:25 Greytown cycling development hits skids
A stoush has erupted in the South Wairarapa town of Greytown over a development catering to the growing demand from cyclists using a soon-to-be-completed cycle trail in the area. A local businessman Adam Blackwell wants to build a group of hospitality businesses in the centre of the township, calling it Pahikara, which translates as bicycle in te reo Maori. The developers say it would bring 50 jobs to the region, especially for Maori youth. It's run into trouble trying to convince the South Wairarapa District Council to sell it one small piece of land. Adam Blackwell explains to Karyn Hay why he's decided to walk away from the whole idea.
