10:20 Petition to ban sugary drinks presented to parliament
A petition to ban sugary drinks from all New Zealand schools has been presented to Green MP Dr Elizabeth Kerekere at parliament today. It was brought by the Open Forum for Health Information, the Health Coalition Aotearoa and others.
The Government is already considering a drinks ban, but only for primary schools. Chair of the Health Coalition Professor Boyd Swinburn told Lisa Owen on "Checkpoint" earlier today that banning drinks in primary schools won't have much impact, compared to covering all schools.
Dr Elizabeth Kerekere talks about what happens next.
