10:24 No Let Up for Nelson

More than 400 homes have been evacuated in Nelson, and residents are being warned that some may never get to return.

Melaine Arthur and her partner were sleeping on Wednesday night when they heard a large banging noise and crash.

They got up to discover a large pine tree had come down on the corner of the house.

After talking to the council and the fire brigade they evacuated and are unsure when they can return.
