The Supreme Court appeal of convicted child sex offender Peter Ellis will still likely go ahead despite his death on Wednesday.
Peter Ellis served seven years of his 10-year sentence after being found guilty of sexual offending against children at the Christchurch City Creche in 1991.
Three convictions were overturned in 1994 after one of the children said she had lied. Peter Ellis has always maintained his innocence. In July the 61-year-old was diagnosed with terminal bladder cancer.
His appeal against his convictions is due to be heard by the Supreme Court in November,
Sociologist Dr Jarrod Gilbert from the University of Canterbury speaks with Karyn about the importance of this case being heard posthumously.
