The most distant single star ever seen has been captured by the Hubble Space Telescope.
It's been nicknamed Earendel, from the Old English word meaning "morning star" or "rising light."
The light from Earendel has travelled for an estimated 12.9 billion years to reach earth.
Karyn discusses this mind-boggling discovery with University of Auckland's head of the Department of Physics, Professor Richard Easther.
