Before then he spent 3 years in South Sudan managing a $37 million USAID funded project that supported agriculture to build the resilience of rural livelihoods.
Calvert has spent more than 30 years helping 25 countries across the Pacific, Asia and Africa with food security, food aid, and rural development.
In between the demanding assignments far from home, he works on his vineyard in Bannockburn in Central Otago.
