Hangi Master Rewi Spraggon builds new pits on Mangere Mountain

Hangi Master Rewi Spraggon is building new community hangi pits on Mangere Mountain in Auckland. It's part of the his approach to retain the tikanga of hangi-making, as well as the fine traditons of kai, and feeding those who most need it. Rewi Spraggon says 'the summit' of cooking is the prepration and sharing of food at tangi and he says at times he's been providing 1500 meals a week to homeless people.
