Arnold Lomax helps thousands into the building industry

Arnold Lomax, of Muaupoko descent, is the Carpentry Cadetship coordinator at Weltec and he's put around 2,500 carpentry students into work. He has helps hundreds of young people, more than 50% of which are Maori, into work in the building industry. A Wainuiomata resident, Arnold Lomax started working at Weltec 7 years ago - at that stage there were around 140 students as apprentices in the city - now it's sitting at 380-400. He's the eldest of the Lomax League playing family from Wainuiomata in Lower Hutt. Arnold played for Wainui, Wellington and the New Zealand Maori Team, and he also played for Huddersfield in England for one season. His nephew is All Black Tyrel Lomax.
