Liana Poutu: Taranaki Mounga

The deed of settlement for Taranaki Mounga was signed on Friday, setting out redress for the confiscation of the sacred mountain. Co-governance of the 30,000 hectare park will, according to Taranaki iwi, ensure mana whenua rights and obligations for the mountain continue. One of the negotiators, Liana Poutu (Te Atiawa), talks about the history, how the settlement was reached, and how the new entities -- if ratified -- will function.
