New Zealand First has confirmed Auckland light rail is not on the party's agenda after RNZ revealed the party won't give the project the go-ahead before the election.
RNZ understands the party won't back the light rail project - which would connect the airport to downtown Auckland - because of its cost and scale, as well as the potential involvement of an overseas company.
The chief executive of the Association of Consulting and Engineering, Paul Evans, supports the idea of a light rail airport connection.
He spoke with Te Aniwa Hurihanganui.
