Sentencing in NZ's first human trafficking and slavery case
The first person ever to be convicted of both human trafficking and slavery in New Zealand has been sentenced in Napier.
For over twenty years, Joseph Auga Matamata promised people a better life if they came to work for him from Samoa.
But instead they arrived in Hastings to a life of abuse - not paid for their work and beaten if they didn't do what they were told.
