Donald Trump has just left hospital in Washington DC, ending a three-day treatment period after contracting Covid-19.

The US President followed through with a tweet that he would be discharged, walking unaided from the Walter Reed Medical Centre just before Midday our time.
He returned immediately to the White House, having received the blessing of his medical staff – although they said he would continue to be closely monitored.
