NZ kids among the world's most unhealthy

From Midday Report, 12:44 pm on 6 November 2020

A global study of children aged between 5 and 19 years old has found those in New Zealand are among the most unhealthy in the world.

The research, published in The Lancet, has been conducted over 35 years in 200 countries and has found children in Aotearoa are gaining more weight than children in most other countries, alongside those in Pacific Island nations.

One of the New Zealand authors of the study is Professor Jim Mann, the Director of the Healthier Lives National Science Challenge research centre.

He told Māni Dunlop the results are highly worrying.
