Nearly two dozen homes in Ahuriri Napier have been decleared uninhabitable following the torrential rain and flooding that hit the city over the past two days.
Civil Defence says 60 people are being housed in emergency accommodation and it expects that number to grow as property inspections are done throughout the day.
A further 150 people have evacuated their homes and are staying with friends or whānau.
The Emergency Management Minister, Kiritapu Allan, this morning announced the Government will provide $100,000 to the mayoral disaster relief fund to help support those affected.
Ms Allan has been visiting the areas most impacted and spoke to our Napier reporter, Tom Kitchin.
