There are large queues outside Covid-19 testing centres across Auckland, the city's supermarkets are busy with shoppers, and thousands of people are attempting to leave the city, after three members of a Papatoetoe family tested positive for the more infectious UK strain of the coronavirus.
It is not yet known how the family contracted the virus.
Tamaki Makaurau moved to Alert Level 3 at midnight last night, while the rest of the country is now at Alert Level 2.
