A key figure in the Christchurch rescue was Dan Ohs, who was ambulance scene commander at the PGC building, which collapsed in the quake.
Mr Ohs is now the Deputy Chief Executive Ambulance Operations for St John and told Māni Dunlop the disaster has helped shape and improve New Zealand ambulance response processes.
