The Wellington City Council has been warned that shutting down boozy brunches in the city is not going to fix anything.
Hospitality owners in the capital are under pressure over the so-called bottomless brunches, after reports of people drinking too much before lunch.
The council says bars and restaurants are at risk of losing their liquor licence if they don't act responsibly.
But Hospitality New Zealand's Jeremy Smith - also the director of city bars El Horno, Lulu's and The Arborist - told reporter Rachel Thomas, it's wrong to target a single event.
