Kiwifruit industry reluctant to share intellectual property
A major grower of Kiwifruit says the industry is going to be reluctant to share the rights to growing Sun Gold kiwifruits with China. Zespri owns the rights to Sun Gold, yet it estimates about 5500 hectares are now being grown unlawfully by Chinese growers.It wants to strike a deal as part of a trial partnership with those growers, but the chief executive of Seeka, Michael Franks, tells Max Towle that might not be the answer.
