Credit, debit card fees to reduce - Minister

Businesses will pay lower fees on credit and debit card transactions, under new legislation announced today. These are the merchant service fees charged by banks - which have gone largely unregulated - leaving businesses spending more than they would in Australia, for instance. The Commerce and Consumer Affairs Minister David Clark told Max Towle he hopes it will save businesses up to $74 million each year.
