In Australia, millions of people are currently under lockdown or tough restrictions, after a day of Covid chaos.

Thirty new cases were detected in New South Wales, while an outbreak in the Northern Territory has been linked to a mine, where as many as 900 workers may have been exposed to the virus.

Queensland and Western Australia are also on high alert after community cases there.

Max Towle spoke to epidemiologist Tony Blakely, who is in Melbourne.
