New Plymouth again at centre of Covid scare

From Midday Report, 12:18 pm on 7 July 2021

The New Plymouth community has again found itself at the centre of a covid scare after two infected fishermen boarded a ship at the city's port. Nine foreign sailors flew into Auckland on Monday, and were driven to New Plymouth to board the Viking Bay ship - without having to go to isolation. All provided a negative pre-departure test, but two tested positive after they arrived here although the results were known only after the vessel had put to sea.
