Nurses, DHBs begin pay equity talks, but strikes will go ahead
The Health Minister Andrew Little has written to District Health Boards and unions to invite them to start pay equity negotiations as soon as possible. Cabinet has approved funding for the agreement - which is expected to be among the largest New Zealand's ever seen - and also a mandate under which the DHBs negotiate. Nurses and midwives are set to strike on Thursday after they rejected DHBs' latest pay offers. Lead advocate and industrial advisor for the New Zealand Nurses Organisation David Wait speaks to Māni Dunlop.
