Police officers in small communities aren't adequately prepared for the role and lack support.
That's the finding of an Independent Police Conduct Authority (IPCA) review, which issued 41 recommendations to Police after interviewing officers and residents in 12 small communities.
The Police have welcomed the findings and say they're already responding to many of the recommendations.
