Paediatric doctor on children vax rates

Three weeks into the roll out of the paediatric covid-19 vaccine, 42 percent of those aged five to 11 have had their first dose.

It's lower for tamariki Māori, where 24 percent have had their first dose, while Pasifika are at 32 percent.

There are 476,000 tamariki eligible for the vaccine.

Auckland and Capital and Coast district health boards, are above the national total at 56 percent for total population.

Māori in those DHB's are at 38 percent.

The lowest is Northland at 22 percent and Maori in that DHB are only at 13 percent.
