Otago Girls High School has apologised after three students ripped off the hijab of another pupil, and beat her.
Seventeen-year-old Hoda Al-Jamaa was hospitalised with concussion after the attack.
A petition calling for justice for Hoda has more than 72-thousand signatures, with support from supermodel Bella Hadid and former All Black Sonny Bill Williams.
Otago Girls High School responded to our request for an interview with a statement, and said they were deeply saddened and sorry that the tragic event occurred at their school.
They said they cannot share the outcomes of the disciplinary process, but can confirm strong steps have been taken, and support has been put in place for those impacted.
